Metaphysic’s CEO, Thomas Graham, explained that this investment will propel the company’s mission to enhance how influencers connect with their audiences through ethically created synthetic media.

Notably, in a viral fashion, Metaphysic previously exhibited deepfakes of the acclaimed actor Tom Cruise, showcasing the potential of their technology to create staggering realism.

“The ethical production of hyperreal synthetic media… is critical to the DNA of Metaphysic,” Graham underscored in a recent email correspondence.

Amidst this, several lawmakers are voicing concerns about AI’s impact on democratic processes, particularly in relation to elections. Recognizing the potential threat of AI in spreading disinformation, U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Susan Collins have been proactive in urging the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to allocate federal funds to counter AI-generated misinformation.

“Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy… this unanimous ruling by the EAC after Senator Collins and I called on it to take action is an important step in the right direction,” Klobuchar remarked.

As part of their ongoing efforts, Klobuchar and Collins co-sponsored the Protect Elections from Deceptive AI Act, aimed at banning the use of AI to generate misleading political content. Their joint efforts highlight a growing bipartisan recognition of the challenges posed by AI technology in maintaining electoral integrity.
