Attitudes to death and dying are shaped by the context in which these events occur. However while attitudes change death remains an important and continuing aspect of the human condition. The subjects of death and dying grief and bereavement and memorialisation do not belong to any one discipline and this journal reflects the range of scholarship associated with them. Not only are these subjects of interest to a range of disciplines they are also profoundly significant to professional groups and lay people concerned with the care of dying people deceased people bereaved people and memorialisation.Unique features of the journal are the Classic Revisited series wherein key texts in the study of death are subjected to contemporary reappraisal by an expert in the discipline and Virtual Themed Issues which are online collections of articles on key themes introduced by an expert.
